BARANGAYS ARE INSTRUCTED TO SUBMIT LIST OF UNVACCINATED RESIDENTS - DILG

In an effort to curve the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Department of the Interior and Local Government has ordered barangays to identify and submit the names of the unvaccinated residents, an official said Wednesday.

A memorandum circular directing barangay captains to identify their unvaccinated residents has already issued, according to DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya.

The moved is in line with President Rodrigo Duterte's order to restrict the movement of unvaccinated individuals amid the surge of COVID-19 virus.

“Para masiguro natin ‘yung datos natin ng mga unvaccinated, nagpalabas si Secretary Año ng memorandum circular para magsagawa ng imbentaryo ang lahat ng mga barangays sa buong bansa para malaman ‘yung mga hindi pa nagpapabakuna sa barangay,” Malaya said in a Laging Handa public briefing.

Once the list are complete, barangays and government units can already implement the restrictions on unvaccinated people through a local ordinance.

Currently, only three local government units in Metro Manila has yet to issue an ordinance on the restriction of unvaccinated individuals which includes Makati, Pasig and Navotas.

Still the ordinance are pending for further discussion but it is expected to be approved anytime soon since Metro Manila Mayors have agreed to restrict movement of unvaccinated residents.
