The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested two Nigerians and three others allegedly behind the "Mark Nagoyo" bank hacking which affected more than 700 clients of BDO Unibank Inc.
According to authorities they were arrested the five suspects in two different entrapment operations conducted by operatives of the NBI-Cybercrime Division in Pampanga.
The NBI identified the suspects as:
- Ifesinachi Fountain Anaekwe, alias Daddy Champ
- Chukwuemeka Peter Nwadi
- Jherom Anthony Taupa
- Ronelyn Panaligan
- Clay Revillosa
Authorities added that Taupa is the alleged mastermind of the operation while Panaligan and Clay Revillosa were involved in the BDO hacking as web developers and downloaders.
The bureau said the successful operation was launched following an informant who supposed had transactions with the suspects voluntarily appeared to provide information about the leaders, members, or affiliates of the "Mark Nagoyo" group.
It was in December last year when BDO account holders reported unauthorized transactions involving tens of thousands of pesos, where the suspects were able to access bank accounts and made the bank transfer.
