THIS VERY OLD HOUSE IN CANDAGUIT, SIBONGA, CEBU REMAIN STANDING STRONG AMID TYPHOON ODETTE

 While several houses in Sibonga, Cebu was left devastated by strong typhoon Odette that hit the province, this very old house which was built back in 1939 remained in its form surviving various calamities over the years. 




The photos was shared by Fr. Chris Amores showing several destroyed houses in the area. According to former resident Ben Cabrido, who is the grandson of the one who built the sturdy house, quality materials was used in the construction.




On December 17, 2021, after typhoon Odette devastated the Queen City of Cebu, destruction can be visibly seen everywhere.





Windows and roof shattered, tress and power lines fell down to the ground - and then there was silence and darkness during night time.

The typhoon affected an estimated 16 million people across the six worst hit regions, leaving about 2.4 million people in need of assistance. 




According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), it killed at least 258 people, injuring 568 people and displacing 631,000 people as of 23 December and across ten regions.
