 The 7-foot-3 center Kai Sotto announced on Thursday he will declare for the 2022 NBA draft. Sotto who came from Adelaide 36ers in the National Basketball League took another step towards his NBA dream, if given a chance he would be the first Filipino homegrown player to make it to the famous basketball league.

On his Instagram post, Sotto announced his much-awaited opportunity, revealing he would be joining the NBA rookie draft on June 23 in Brooklyn, New York. 

"I have declared for the 2022 NBA Draft. Please pray for and support me during my quest to fulfill my ultimate dream," he said.

Sotto, previously signed with the NBA G League Ignite for the 2020-21 season but never suited up due to prior obligations with the Philippine national team. The four-star hopeful, averaged 7.5 points and 4.5 rebounds on 50% shooting from the field in 23 games with the 36ers.

Last April 10, he would probably produced his best game of the season with a career-high record of 21 points.
