Although he did not named someone, Donnalyn Bartolome's fans are convinced that Associate Justice Marvic Leonen's latest tweet is referring to the social media personality latest 'kanto' themed birthday party.
Leonen on his tweet on Wednesday, August 17, said: "Instead of pretending to be poor through a lavish kanto themed party, why not understand what it is to be poor and find ways and means to assist."
Adding that, "To be poor is not something to celebrate by the rich."
"It is insensitive," he said.
Following his tweet, several fans came to Bartolome's defense with one said: "Again, im challenging you and the rest of the people here na nainis sa kanto-themed na bday ni donnalyn. Ang daming ng kalat na poverty porn content sa youtube why dont u use this cancel culture dun sa mga un na plain as day ung exploitation at png gagamit ng mahirap for profit."
Another comment which read: "Pretending to b poor? Ng celebrate lng ung tao na kanto-themed inassociate agad na poverty ung pinoportray? Tpos gus2 nyo sya gumawa ng something to help the poor- isnt that d govt's responsibility?Kayo kaya ano ginagawa nyo to help the poor aside from calling out d2 sa twitter?"
Instead of pretending to be poor through a lavish kanto themed party, why not understand what it is to be poor and find ways and means to assist. To be poor is not something to celebrate by the rich.
