Mayor of Dauin, Negros Oriental members of the family including their helpers were taken hostage at their house in Barangay Masaplod Sur on Saturday, August 27.
The security escort of the family identified as Venerando Dalope, 57, of Pangasinan, held hostage the mayor's wife, Maria Carmen Truita and their daughter Jemimie Truita, including family's house helpers Liza Tuban and Maricon Abarientos around 9 a.m.
According to the Police, Dalope was armed with a loaded .45 caliber handgun and seen slingin an M16 rifle.
Mayor Truita who was in Manila called for assistance after learning of the incident in their house.
The suspect has been working to the family for several years now. But initial investigation appears that Dalope was reportedly suffering from nervous breakdown, before the incident.
The suspect is now under Dauin police custody, and will face charges. The standoff ended at around 4pm and no one was hurt in the incident.
