MAID IN MALACAÑANG EARNED ₱21 MILLION ON ITS OPENING DAY

Darryl Yap’s controversial film ‘Maid in Malacañang’ is a box office film that earned ₱21 million in ticket sales across over 200 cinemas worldwide on its opening day, August 3, 2022, according to the film’s producer VIVA Films.

The movie bares an untold story of the last 72 hours of the Marcoses inside Malacañang Palace before fleeing to Hawaii, during the 1986 People Power Revolution starring Cesar Montano as Fedinand Marcos, Ruffa Gutierrez as Imelda Marcos, Diego Loyzaga as Ferdinand "Bong" Marcos and Cristine Reyes as Imee Marcos.

The film includes a controversial scene showing nuns playing mahjong with a character playing Cory Aquino, which drew protests from the Carmelite nuns for its historical distortion.

Viva Films posted on their facebook page, "P21 MILLION na pasasalamat sa aming opening day! #MiMDay2Showing here we come!”

“Pumila na ng maaga dahil we are SHOWING in OVER 200 CINEMAS nationwide! More cinemas to come! #MAIDinMALACAÑANG”, Viva Films said.
