POOR STUDENT MANAGES TO GRADUATE FROM BEING A PEDICAB DRIVER TO A TEACHER WITH MAGNA CUM LAUDE HONORS

 Inspiring poor student from Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) is going viral for all the right reasons. 




Jerson Aboabo, a 'pedicab driver' has finally overcomes obstacles and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Filipino.



For students, there are many obstacles to overcome: the exams to pass, the hours of study to fit in with daily life in order to keep the grade average high. In addition to these difficulties, another barrier to overcome is the finances.




It's graduation, a time for stories of proud graduates tossing their caps in the air - people like Aboabo. 





Recalling his hardships yet inspiring college journey, Aboabo who have not initially pass MSU-IIT's entrance examination has never discouraged in pursuit of his dreams.



Aboabo learned to manage his time as a working student from Senior High School until his first two years in college while juggling as a sikad driver just to pay for his miscellaneous fees.




He even experienced to collect leftovers for pigs just to sell them for Php 20.00 per bucket.





Aboabo's motivation to provide and sustain his education is beyond admirable. He is a living example of the saying the "present will not define your future". 



He encouraged students who have similar journey to continue, hold on, and endure to achieve sweet success.



Aboabo is also a recipient of the College Leadership Award and Department Leadership Award for his service as an active and inspiring student leader.
