The Department of Welfare and Development 9DSWD) has closed the application online for its educational assistance program for indigent students as the agency said that it could no longer accept more applicants, Secretary Erwin Tulfo said Saturday.
In an interview with DZBB, Tulfo said they could not add more benefiaries due to over two million applications have been waiting for the next payout but available funds are limited.
"Closed na itong (application ng) educational assistance," said Tulfo.
"Kaya 'di na namin makakaya o kakayanin pa dagdagan 'yung two million," he added.
The DSWD has since distributed around P800 million worth of educational assistance.
"Ang tinitingnan natin ay 'yung pondo natin P1.5 billion," Tulfo added.
There are only two Saturdays for the educational assistance payout, and it will covers the two million students who have registered online.
"Hanggang September 24, 2022 na lang ang pamamahagi namin ng educational assistance," Tulfo continued.
Under the DSWD educational assistance program , elementary students can get P1,000, high school students can get P2,000, senior high school students can get P3,000 and tertiary students can get P4,000.
