Filipino pole vaulter Ernest John "EJ" Obiena is raising the Philippine flag in his latest achievement at the True Athletes Classics 2022 in Germany. He finished gold in his one week competition in Europe.
The Philippine pride first cleared 5.63 meters in one attempt, cleared 5.81 meters in two attempts, and tried his third attempt for 5.95 meters but failed. Obiena denies fellow competitors Rutgar Koppelaar of the Netherlands and Kurtis Marschall of Australia who also cleared at 5.81m in two attempts but failed in previous attempts and tried the lower heights of 5.87m.

Obiena became the World No. 3 in men's pole vault after reigning at the prestigious Lausanne Diamond League, where he was dubbed as the "great Filipino hope."
He also won gold at the 26th Internationales Stabhochsprung-Meeting in Jockgrim, Germany.
The 26-year-old continues his pursuit for gold for more medals for the Philippines as he appeared on more European tournaments such St. Wendel(Germany), Brussels (Belgium), and Schaan(Liechtenstein)
