PHILIPPINE NAVY RESCUES AUTRALIAN ABOARD A DRIFTING YACHT OFF ZAMBOANGA

 The Philippine Navy in Western Mindanao has reported that they have rescued an Australian aboard his drifted yacht after a 30-day sailing from Australia en route to Cebu City.



The white man identified as Malcolm Mclntyre was rescued around 7:50 PM on Monday in the area of Sta. Cruz Island according to the PNA reported.

The 57-year-old was rescued after a distress call from the yacht, "Spirit Argao" drifting at sea. Mclntyre has departed from port of Dampier in Western Australia on August 4 and set to arrived supposedly in Cebu City to visit his wife and son.



However, the yacht encountered an engine problem and low fuel causing him to lose direction amid the bad weather. His vessel drifted away in the direction of Coco Island, Akbar, Basilan.



Mclntyre was brought to Camp Navarro General Hospital for medical check-up.
