CHITO MIRANDA ON POSSIBLE BAN OF K-DRAMAS,'KAILANGAN LANG NATIN GALINGAN, DI PWEDENG SAPILITAN'

Chito Miranda Jr. was the first celebrities to react on the issue of  possible ban of Korean movies in the country.

It took less than 24 hours for Miranda to respond while the idea from a senator had caused an uproar to several K-drama fans.

Miranda's remarks came after Senator Jinggoy Estrada during the 2023 budget hearing for the Film Development Council proposed putting a ban on Korean dramas and foreign films as it shows negative impact on the local entertainment industry.

"Kapag patuloy tayo nagpapalabas ng Korean telenovela, ang hinahangaan ng ating mga kababayan ay itong mga Koreano at nawawalan ng trabaho at kita 'yung artistang Pilipino...Kaya minsan, pumapasok sa aking isipan na i-ban itong mga telenovela ng mga foreigner," said Estrada.

However, the senator later clarified that his initial statement was caused by his frustration of lack of support from Filipinos and allowed "our own to deteriorate."

Meanwhile, the singer explained in his Twitter post that "targeting foreign shows or acts is not the solution for the lack of support towards local shows and artists."

He added that, it only needs the Filipino artists to do more  to excel on their respective talent and embraced a healthy competition with other foreign acts. Adding that forcing the Filipino support will not solve the problems of the Philippine entertainment industry.
