Google to Delete Inactive Accounts Starting December 2023

Attention Google Users: Inactive Accounts to Be Purged Starting December 2023

In a move to enhance security measures, Google is set to remove inactive accounts from December 2023 onwards.

This policy applies to personal Google accounts that have not been used in the last two years. Once deleted, data stored across Google services, including Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Meet, and Google Calendar, will be inaccessible.

This decision is based on the observation that inactive accounts are more susceptible to compromise. By removing these accounts, Google aims to reduce the overall risk of security breaches.

To keep your Google account active, simply log in and use it regularly. This could involve checking or sending emails, using Google Drive for document storage, watching videos on YouTube, or performing Google searches.

Google emphasizes that only personal accounts are affected by this policy. Accounts managed by schools, organizations, or businesses will not be deleted.

To ensure you receive notifications about potential account deletion, keep your recovery email address up to date. You can also check the status of your account by logging in to Google's Inactive Account Management page.

By taking these simple steps, you can protect your Google account and keep your valuable data secure.
