YouTube rolls out new feature allowing Premium subscribers to play games on the app

YouTube has launched a new feature called Playables, which allows Premium subscribers to play online mini arcade games directly on the YouTube app or website. The feature is currently in beta testing and will be available until March 28, 2024.

Playables offers a selection of 37 games, including popular titles such as Angry Birds Showdown, Brain Out, Daily Solitaire, and The Daily Crossword. Subscribers do not need to download or install any additional apps to play these games.

To access Playables, Premium subscribers must first log in to their YouTube account on their mobile device or desktop. Then, they can click on their profile icon, scroll down to the "Your Premium benefits" tab, and select "Try experimental new features." Finally, they can choose "Play games on YouTube" to enable the feature.

Once Playables is enabled, subscribers can browse and play games from the "Playables" section in the "Explore" tab. The feature is currently available on Android, iOS, and desktop devices.

YouTube's introduction of Playables is seen as a strategic move to attract and retain Premium subscribers. The company has been steadily adding new features to its Premium service in an effort to make it more appealing to users.

It is unclear whether or not YouTube will roll out Playables to the general public after the beta testing period ends. However, the company has a history of making experimental features available to all users after a successful testing phase.
