Melai Cantiveros Steals the Show with Wit and Wackiness at AAA 2023

Kapamilya star Melai Cantiveros brought laughter to both the Philippine Arena and online viewers during her interview at the 2023 Asian Artist Awards. The joyous actress-host, one of the event's esteemed recipients, couldn't contain her excitement.

 

Held in the Philippines for the first time after previous editions in Vietnam and Japan, the AAA recognizes and celebrates top Asian talents in music, film, and TV. Presented by PULP Live World and Star News Korea, the star-studded lineup boasted Korean acts like NewJeans, LE SSERAFIM, Stray Kids, &TEAM, ZEROBASEONE, SEVENTEEN's BSS, ITZY, and more.

Joining them were Korean actors Kim Sejong, Ahn Hyo Seop, Kim Seon Ho, and Cha Joo Young, alongside Filipino celebrities SB19, HORI7ON, Ben&Ben, Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, and of course, Melai Cantiveros-Francisco.

Beaming, Melai stood up and greeted the audience with a playful "annyeonghaseyo" (hello in Korean) and "arigato gozaimasu" (thank you in Japanese). In her own charmingly broken English, she declared, "I feel like I'm the first honor student, the valedictorian of attending an AAA! This is the best, the most prestigious award. I can't believe this is happening!"

When asked who she was most excited to meet, Melai's eyes darted to Kim Seon Ho, who was seated right in front of her. Her excitement reached a fever pitch as she exclaimed, "Magandang buhay, maayong hapon na mga taga-Gen San, Pilipinas! Uhm, I want... I'm so very idol of Kim Seon Ho!"

Melai's trademark wacky faces and melting gestures perfectly captured her infectious enthusiasm, making her interview a highlight of the entire event.
