The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) commemorated National Heroes Day on Monday by highlighting its P100,000 commemorative banknotes for collectors.
These banknotes, part of the BSP's numismatic collection, were first printed in 1998 to celebrate the centennial of Philippine Independence.
The obverse side depicts the "Sigaw ng Himagsikan" led by Andres Bonifacio, the supremo of the Katipunan, in 1896. The reverse side showcases the proclamation of Philippine Independence by General Emilio Aguinaldo on June 12, 1898, in Kawit, Cavite.
Only 1000 pieces of this commemorative banknote were minted, making it a highly sought-after collectible. Collectors can purchase it at the BSP Store.
In addition to this P100,000 banknote, the BSP has previously launched other collectible coins and bills to mark significant moments in Philippine history, such as the 150-piso and 125-piso coins.
