To address food insecurity and alleviate hunger among low-income families, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has launched the "Walang Gutom 2027: Food Stamp Program." The initiative kicked off today at the Bacolod City Government Center Lobby, with 172 beneficiaries in attendance.

Mayor Albee Benitez, along with Councilors Simple Distrito, Em Ang, and Celia Flor, joined DSWD officials for the launch. Undersecretary Eduardo M. Punay, Regional Director Atty. Carmelo N. Nochete, and other DSWD representatives were present to oversee the event.
The "Walang Gutom 2027" program, mandated by Executive Order No. 44, provides eligible low-income households with a monthly food allowance of Php 3,000 for three years. Beneficiaries receive Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards to access these funds, with the exception of 4Ps recipients.

The food package includes a variety of essential items, such as 25 kilograms of rice, potatoes, chicken, eggplant, squash, cabbage, and more.
To demonstrate the program's functionality, a redemption activity was held at the end of the event. Beneficiaries had the opportunity to use their EBT cards to claim their food essentials.
