Former Mayor Alice Guo, who was recently arrested in Indonesia and returned to the Philippines, is being held under strict conditions at Camp Crame. The Philippine National Police (PNP) has implemented strict rules for Guo, including prohibiting the use of cellphones and AirPods and ensuring that she is treated as an ordinary detainee.
Guo, who is accused of involvement in illegal offshore gaming operations, was taken into custody upon her arrival in the Philippines. She underwent medical examination and booking procedures before being transferred to Camp Crame.
She is being held in a standard detention room with basic amenities and is not allowed to use any electronic devices. The PNP spokesperson, PCol. Jean Fajardo, has emphasized that Guo will receive no special treatment and will be subject to the same rules as other detainees.
Guo is facing multiple charges, including graft, corruption, human trafficking, tax evasion, and money laundering. She is expected to post bail for the graft and corruption charges filed against her before a court in Capas, Tarlac.
The PNP has confirmed that Guo's health is stable and that she has been provided with necessary medical care. She was read her arrest warrant and Miranda rights upon her arrest and her mugshot was taken.
The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) has revealed that Guo fled to Singapore and Indonesia after receiving death threats from Chinese mafia. They believe that Southeast Asia was an ideal location for Guo to escape due to the relaxed visa requirements.
Indonesian authorities also arrested Cassandra Ong and Shiela Guo, who are both accused of involvement in illegal gaming operations.
