Mapua's Winning Streak Continues, Despite Player Ejections

Mapua University continued their impressive run in the NCAA Season 100 men's basketball tournament, securing their second consecutive victory. However, the Cardinals' success was marred by the unfortunate ejection of two key players.

Marc Igliane, a 6-foot-4 forward, was sent off in the first half of their game against Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC). Igliane was disqualified for a dangerous foul against Jhearald Manacho, who was airborne for a layup. The incident occurred with just over five minutes remaining in the second quarter.

Igliane's ejection was a significant blow to Mapua, as they were already playing without another big man, John Jabonete. Jabonete was serving a one-game suspension for elbowing Karl De Jesus of Jose Rizal University in a previous game.

Mapua head coach Randy Alcantara expressed his disappointment over the loss of two key players due to unsportsmanlike fouls. He emphasized the importance of avoiding such incidents and urged the remaining players to step up.

Despite the challenges posed by the player ejections, Mapua managed to overcome EAC in a closely contested game, winning 75-71. Their victory against the Generals was followed by another impressive win over San Beda, the defending champions, with a score of 82-79.

Mapua's recent success has propelled them to the second spot in the league standings with an 8-3 record. Their strong performance has set them up for a crucial matchup against Letran on Friday, followed by a showdown against the defending champions San Beda on Sunday.
