Multi-platinum-selling band, Simple Plan, has announced an upcoming documentary chronicling their successful career and global tour in anticipation of their 25th anniversary.
The untitled documentary, currently in production with Sphere Media, was unveiled by lead singer Pierre Bouvier during a live performance at the When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas. The film is set to premiere globally on Prime Video in 2025.
“This movie is a cornerstone of our 25th-anniversary celebration and one of the most ambitious projects we’ve ever undertaken,” said the members of Simple Plan. “We granted director Didier Charette unprecedented access to the band and our archives, entrusting him to tell our story authentically. He accompanied us on tour for an entire year, capturing the essence of who we are as a band and as individuals. We’re incredibly proud of this film and can’t wait for our fans to experience it and get to know us on a deeper level.”
Shaun Alperin, Head of Content at Prime Video Canada, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Simple Plan is an iconic band from the 2000s who continues to captivate audiences of all ages. Their music and infectious energy have inspired millions of fans, and we’re thrilled to bring their story to Prime Video.”
The documentary will delve into the band’s origins in Montreal during the late 1990s, their ascent to global fame with hits like “Welcome to My Life,” “Perfect,” and “The Antidote,” and their enduring influence as a leading punk rock band. The film will feature previously unseen archival footage and new interviews with band members and renowned figures in the punk rock scene, including Mark Hoppus (Blink-182), Avril Lavigne, Dexter Holland and Noodles (The Offspring), and Fat Mike (NoFX).
Sphere Media is producing the documentary, with executive producers Bruno Dubé, Renaud Chassé, and Marie-Hélène Tremblay, and producer Samuel.
