University of the East Remains Unbeaten, Sweeps Perpetual Help in Shakey's Super League

University of the East (UE) continued their impressive run in the 2024 Shakey's Super League Collegiate Pre-season Championship, sweeping University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD) in straight sets, 25-17, 25-20, 25-15. This victory marked UE's second consecutive win in Pool B, solidifying their position as a strong contender for the tournament.

Casiey Dongallo led the way for UE with a stellar performance, contributing 11 points, including 10 attacks and one ace. Her impressive play was instrumental in UE's dominance throughout the match. The Lady Warriors showcased improved floor defense and offensive variations compared to their previous win over Lyceum of the Philippines University.

UE's victory was also fueled by the strong performances of Riza Nogales (8 points), Bea Zamudio (5 points), Yesha Rojo (5 points), and Kayce Balingit (5 points). The Lady Warriors capitalized on UPHSD's errors, scoring 26 free points.

On the other side, Perpetual struggled to keep pace with UE's offensive firepower. Cyrill Alemaniana was the standout performer for the Lady Altas with 11 points, but it wasn't enough to prevent the defeat.

In another match, Arellano University rallied from a 1-2 deficit to defeat San Beda University in five sets, 25-19, 22-25, 20-25, 25-10, 15-6. Fhaye Mangubat led Arellano with 20 points, while Marianne Padillon added 13. Arellano's victory was made even more impressive considering they played without key winger Laika Tudlasan, who suffered an injury during the match.

With these results, UE remains undefeated in Pool B, while Arellano continues their winning streak in Pool A. Both teams are poised to make a strong run in the tournament as they look to secure a spot in the next round.
