The University of Santo Tomas (UST) staged a remarkable comeback, defeating the University of the East (UE) in a thrilling five-set match (23-25, 23-25, 25-14, 25-17, 15-9) to remain undefeated in Pool B of the 2024 Shakey's Super League Collegiate Pre-Season Championship.
Angge Poyos led the Growling Tigresses with a game-high 28 points, including eight crucial points in the deciding set. Her powerful spike from the left corner sealed the victory for UST, ending UE's three-game winning streak.

Other key contributors for UST included Regina Jurado with 15 points and Jonna Perdido with 14 points. For UE, Jelai Gajero and Casiey Dongallo scored 14 points each.
UST's victory sets them up for a crucial match against Far Eastern University in the next round, where they will compete for one of the two twice-to-beat quarterfinals advantages. UE, on the other hand, will face De La Salle University in the next round.
Meanwhile, National University (NU) continued their dominance, defeating San Beda University in straight sets (25-19, 25-7, 25-17) to improve their record to 3-0 in Pool A. Myrtle Escanlar led NU with 13 points, while Alyssa Solomon added 12 points.
The Shakey's Super League Collegiate Pre-Season Championship continues with more exciting matches this week. Lyceum of the Philippines University will face University of Perpetual Help System Dalta on Wednesday, followed by Ateneo de Manila University vs. Emilio Aguinaldo College and Adamson University vs. College of Saint Benilde.
