Actress-entrepreneur Neri Naig-Miranda may face a bleak Christmas season, potentially spending the holiday behind bars. Confirmed by the Philippine National Police's Southern Police District Public Information Officer, PMaj.
Hazel Asilo, Naig is currently in the custody of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology. Her arraignment, initially scheduled for November 28th, has been postponed to January 9th, 2025.
The non-bailable nature of the charges against Naig, which include 14 counts of violating the Securities Regulation Code and syndicated estafa, raises concerns about her potential release before Christmas. While it's uncertain, the possibility of her remaining incarcerated during the holiday season cannot be ruled out.
Naig's alleged involvement with Dermacare, a company accused of soliciting public funds without proper authorization, led to her arrest on November 23rd. The court has set a substantial bail amount for the securities violation charges, but the estafa charges carry no bail provision, further complicating her legal situation.
