Super Typhoon Pepito Wreaks Havoc: Classes Suspended for November 18

Several local government units (LGUs) have suspended classes on Monday, November 18, 2024, due to the onslaught of Super Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-Yi).

As of 3:20 PM, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) confirmed that the powerful typhoon made landfall in the vicinity of Dipaculao, Aurora.

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) clarified that the decision to suspend classes and government work rests with local chief executives.

"Upon consultation with relevant government agencies and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the cancellation of classes and/or suspension of work in government offices is left to the discretion of respective local chief executives, considering the specific conditions in their localities," the PCO stated.
