A senior citizen from Bicol, accompanied by her daughter, claimed her ₱12,675,557.50 share of the ₱25,351,115 Lotto 6/42 jackpot at the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Main Office in Mandaluyong City on January 10, 2025.
The winning numbers, 27-26-09-41-19-20, were drawn on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2024. The jackpot was split between two winners, with the other lucky ticket purchased in Lucena City.
The Bicolana winner shared that her good fortune came after a decade of diligently playing the lottery using a combination of family birthdates and a System 9 betting strategy. This strategy allows players to choose nine numbers instead of the usual six, increasing their chances of winning.
The newly minted millionaire plans to invest her winnings in a new business venture.
To claim her prize, the winner presented the original, signed winning ticket and two valid government-issued IDs. As mandated by the TRAIN Law, a 20% tax was deducted from the prize, which exceeded ₱10,000.
The PCSO reminded the public that Lotto 6/42 winners have one year from the draw date to claim their prizes. Unclaimed winnings are forfeited and added to the PCSO Charity Fund, which supports various charitable programs nationwide.
Lotto 6/42 draws are held every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 9:00 PM, broadcast live on PTV-4 and the PCSO Games Online Hub Facebook page.
