Tokyo, Japan -  Naoya "Monster" Inoue, Japan's undefeated super-bantamweight world champion, will now face South Korea's Kim Ye-joon on January 24th after Sam Goodman withdrew from their highly anticipated title fight due to a recurring eye injury. This marks the second postponement of the bout, originally scheduled for Christmas Eve, leaving Inoue to adapt to a new challenger just weeks before the fight.

Goodman, the top-ranked IBF and WBO contender, suffered a cut above his left eye in December during sparring, forcing the initial delay. Unfortunately, the Australian reopened the wound during training, prompting his promoters, No Limit Boxing, to announce his withdrawal on Saturday.

"No Limit Boxing regrets to announce that Sam Goodman has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout against Naoya Inoue on January 24 due to a recurrence of his eye injury," the promoters said in a statement. "We wish Sam a full and speedy recovery."

Despite the unexpected change, Inoue remains committed to defending his title on January 24th.  His gym, Ohashi Gym,  confirmed that the "Monster" will now face Kim, the WBO's 11th-ranked contender.

"Of course Inoue was surprised," Ohashi Gym president Hideyuki Ohashi admitted to reporters. "It's his first experience of having to face a different fighter after a postponement, but both Inoue and myself are taking this in a positive way."

This change presents a new challenge for Inoue, who boasts a flawless 28-0 record with 25 knockouts.  Kim, while a respectable opponent with 21 wins and 13 knockouts,  is a less familiar adversary compared to Goodman.  The shift in opponent necessitates adjustments to Inoue's fight strategy and preparation in the limited time remaining.

The boxing world will be watching closely as Inoue, known for his devastating power and precision, faces this unexpected turn of events.  Whether he can maintain his dominance against Kim remains to be seen, but the "Monster" is undoubtedly determined to deliver another electrifying performance for his home crowd in Tokyo.
