Another interesting platform by Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, he wants Algebra, Trigonometry and Calculus removed from the Philippine education curriculum and replaced with Business Mathematics if elected as President.
Now that Duterte is confident of winning the Presidential race, those who dislike these subjects has the chance to pursue your degree. Duterte said Business Mathematics is a practical subject.
"Yung Calculus alisin ko talaga yan. Dumaan kayo ng high school, ano ang natutunan niyo sa Calculus,Trigonometry? Yang Algebra palitan mo na yan ng Business Math," Duterte said.
He also mentioned that learning unnecessary signs and number in Math is useless to Filipinos who suffered from Math anxiety.
"you know there are crazy things. It does not serve the purpose at all. Pinapahirapan lang ang mga bata, Business Math and Statistics, pwede pa," he added.
Subjects such as geometry and physics would remain in the curriculum, however, as he notes that these are applicable in once daily life.
