These could be something new in the world of phones, Google's Advanced Technology is unveiling its modular Android phone and will be available to consumers in 2017.
The 5.3-inch smartphone frame holds a permanent phone unit and up to six square and rectangular modules that can be popped in and out without restarting the phone. The idea is to make a highly customizable, versatile phone that can be upgraded by piece at a time instead of buying a whole new smartphone every other year.
For example you can add different kinds of cameras, a fitness tracker, a fresh battery, health tools, or an E lnk screen.
Since this is basically the idea of the modular smartphone, the frame named Endo is 10mm thick including the modules. It has three different sizes: mini, medium and large with the large frame, which is made of poly carbonate and molded metal.
If a mobile phone breaks or one of the components is not working, instead of buying a new handset a user could simply swap out components.
