US is sending four Electronic attack jets in West PH Sea to train PH airforce

The mission is to train the Philippine Airforce especially its newest assets FA-50PH fighter pilots and support units located in Clark Air Base in Pampanga. Four aircraft and about 120 personnel's assigned to the Electronic Attack Squadron 138(VAQ 138) expeditionary squadron of the United States.

The group of electronic attack aircraft reportedly arrived in Clark Air Base on June 14.

"In addition to bilateral training missions, Growler aircraft will support routine operations that will enhance regional maritime domain awareness and assure access to the air and maritime domains in accordance with international law," said US Navy.

VAQ 138 utilizes the EA-18G Growler.

The EA-18G, a variant of F/A 18F Super Hornet, is equippeed with two F414-Ge-400 turbofan engines, an APG-79 AESA radar, the ALQ-218 receiver system, and forward and aft cockpit joint Helmet Mounted Cueing Systems. Growler has a combat loadout of a combination of external fuel tanks, ALQ-99 tactical jamming pods, AIM-120 AMRAAM, and AGM-88 HARM.
The detachment is composed of four aircraft and about 120 personnel assigned to Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 138, an expeditionary squadron based at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Wash. Previous VAQ 138 detachments like this one have completed deployments to locations throughout the Indo-Asia-Pacific and participated in several exercises with allies and partners.

The first temporary US Air contingent was composed of five A-10C Thunderbolt aircraft, three HH-60G Pave Hawk Helicopters and approximately 200 personnels deployed across the Pacific Air Force units. This detachment is part of U.S Air Contingent etablished by U.S. Pacific Command in April with approval of the Government of the Philippines to promote interoperability and security cooperation.
