4 PSG injured in an ambushed in North Cotabato

Four members of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) were injured in an ambush encounter between PSG and suspected New Peoples Army(NPA) members. The incident took place in the boundaries of Arakan, Bukidnon and Davao City, PSG spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Michael Aquino said.

Members of the PSG was aboard in two vehicles on their way to Cagayan de Oro City when the NPA rebels fired on them around 6:15 a.m.

"More than 50 armed men wearing military uniform were in the checkpoint in the area bearing the Task Force Davao sign. They posed as soldiers," Aquino said in Filipino.

The PSG spokesperson said security personnel, doubting the identities of the men who were wearing military uniform, stopped before reaching the checkpoint. This was then followed by an exchange of fires.

"NPA Souther Mindanao Region reports its 1st Pulang Bagani Company puts up a checkpoint along Davao City-North Cotabato-Bukidnon boundaries Wednesday morning. Presidential Security Group vehicle was held while a CIDG agent was arrested. The operation was conducted," report in sunstar.
