After completing the delivery of 12 FA-50PH light attack aircraft to the Philippines three months ahead of the schedule from Korea Aerospace Industries Co.(KAI). President Rodrigo Duterte announced that his administration are considering an additional of 12 FA-50PH aircraft for the airforce, during the handover ceremony to the Philippine Airforce.
KAI has the total contract of US$420 million order to build the light attack aircraft for the Philippine Airforce. The aircraft are placed to replaced the role of F-5 fighters that were retired in the mid 2000s.
Moreover, the Philippine government has expressed interest in acquiring Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) KUH-1 Surion transport helicopter reported by Korean Yonhap.The KAI KUH-1 Surion is a twin-engine amphibious helicopter developed by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI). It can carry maximum of nine troops along with two pilots and two gunners in utility transport.
