Netflix Helps Yakult Yogurt Spike Sales

Japanese drink Yakult had made brief appearance in the Netflex rom-com "to All The Boys I've Love Before." Viewers of Netflix's new romantic movie had identified Yakult bottle because of its distinct red foil top, but in the movie they called it a "Korean yogurt smoothie."

"While the brand is Japanese origin and was never mentioned by name in the movie, it is clearly a Yakult bottle, which Twitter users quickly noticed," Bachman said.

While Yakult is enjoying an increase in sales after making rounds in online appearance, we bet there's more you didn't know about Yakult.

The drinks was formulated by microbiologist Minoru Shirota in the 1930s, who decided to mix with a strain of lactic acid bacteria in a milk. Then, he discovered and called Lactobacillus casei Shirota, which identified and named after himself.
