Retired Col. Ibarra Mariano from Tacloban is one of the oldest bar examinees for this year. He finished law school 51 years ago but only took the BAR in 1995 after his retirement but failed with a 70-percent grade.

He was among the first to finish the second week of Bar examination given at the University of Sto. Tomas and very optimistic for his second try, as long as Bar examiners can understand his handwriting. Mariano is set to undergo hand surgery but insisted on postponing it until he will finished the examination.
"Hindi na tayo bumabata. I wanted to become a lawyer before I die. That's why I took the interest to take it now while I can still write, i can still walk around alone," he said ABC-CBN news.
The 87-year old retired policeman had served the government for decades as an officer of the Philippine Constabulary and now finding his luck for the second time.

The last day of the bar examination on Sunday, November 25, 2018 said to be the toughest professional admission examination in the country. Over 8,000 examinees took the last day of the bar examinations.
His story inspired many people especially to those aspiring lawyers to never give up on there dreams.
