END Endo approves by Senate on third and final reading

Manila, Philippines - Senate majority voted 15-0 in favor of Senate Bill 1826 or the "Security of Tenure and End of Endo Act of 2018 on Wednesday. The bill seeks to provide workers' security of tenure and end the contractualization  practice.

Once the bill is passed into law, employees would have to be directly hired by companies and restrict the hiring of employees through third party.

All employees, except for those under probationary, are deemed regular, including project and seasonal employees. The services of any employee cannot be terminated without any valid reason.

“We want to give all workers peace of mind when it comes to their employment status, that no worker can be dismissed without just or authorized cause, and due process,” Sen. Joel Villanueva said in a statement.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier certified the bill as urgent as labor groups called on him to fulfill his campaign promise.
