Dumaguete's violinist Kaycee Galano performed at Carnagie Hall in New York

Through Skype, the journey of this young pinay violinist Kristine Clair Uchi "Kaycee" Galano paid off after performing at the New York City.

It started five years ago when the young pinay from Dumaguete started her Skype tutorials, she was ten-year-old when she met  University of Cincinnati College - Conservatory of Music professor Kurt Sassmannshaus, who runs the Great Wall international Music Academy in Beijing.

After hearing her play, he offered lessons for  KeyCee through online tutorial "Skype" after learning the humble girl doesn't have a violin teacher. For five years, they went through an online tutorial every Tuesday, at 8 PM for Kaycee, and at 8am for her German instructor.

Now the 18-year-old KayCee performed Johann Sebastian Bach's complete Solo Sonatas and Partitas on October 12, 2019, at the Weill Recital Hall at New York City's Carnegie Hall.

She was 4 years old when she first heard the violin at a music school where her mother worked as a piano teacher. Since then her love of violin started, and at the age 10, she mastered all six Bach solo sonatas for violin, the Cincinnati report.

When she turned 15, Galano was enrolled in the Starling Preparatory String Projects's Dorothy Richard Starling program for gifted kids and teenagers in Cincinnati in Ohio.

Now, she is in her second year and have been staying with host families."I've never felt more welcome. Before I moved here, I was a little bit scared, of course, but after living with the host family and meeting the Starling family, I felt at home," she told Cincinatti Enquirer in an interview.

KayCee Galano as one of the leading young violinists of her time has following remarkable credentials established:

  • first prize at the Malaysian Youth Music Festival
  • first prize at the Great Wall Violin Concerto Competition in Beijing
  • At age 12, she performed in the first Asian broadcast of NPR’s “From the Top” show
  • At age 13, she performed Tchaikovsky’s violin concerto with the Metro Manila Concert Orchestra
  • At age 14, Galano toured the U.S. with renowned pianist Rohan De Silva, and has since collaborated and recorded with him many times
In a Facebook post, Galano thanked everyone "who have supported and gave her the chance to perform all six Bach solo sonatas at Carnegie Hall."
