DOTr launches Cavite-Manila ferry service for free until January 2020

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) officially launched the Cavite-Manila Ferry Service which offer a free ride until January 2020. Starting Monday, December 9, passengers can enjoy the free ferry service from Cavite City Port Terminal going to the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Complex in Pasay City, and to the Liwasang Bonifacio Terminal (Plaza Lawton) in Manila, and vice versa.

Passengers going to Liwasang Bonifacio Terminal in Lawton Avenue to Cavite City Port Terminal is expected to take a travel time of 40-45 minutes, while CCP to Cavite City Port Terminal has the estimated travel time around 15 minutes.

Currently, MV Island Sabtang serving the route to Liwasang Bonifacio-Cavite offer a free ride until January 31, 2020. Afterwards, fares will be implemented at P160 for regular passengers, P128 for students, P114 for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, P80 for children aged 4 to 11-years-old, and free for children from three-years-old and below.

Meanwhile, CCP-Cavite route will be free until January 9. MB Seaborne Mercury serving the area will cost P200 for regular passengers, P160 for students, P143 for senior, and P125 for children aged 4 to 11 years old.

Samar 1st District Representative Edgar Mary Sarmiento, Chair of Committee on Transportation said, usually, the travel time from Manila to Cavite is around four hours.
