Miss Universe declares Gazini Ganados as real National Costume winner and Steve Harvey is right!

Steve Harvey was actually correct in announcing the winner for the 2019 National Costume competition. Miss Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Ganados has indeed won the Best in National Costume special award.

The Miss Universe Organization confirms that Ganados is the real winner in the statement posted on Twitter. ".@IAmSteveHarvey  had it right: Miss Universe Philippines Gazini Ganados is the winner of the #MissUniverse2019 National Costume competition! Congratulations, Gazini."

People thought Steve Harvey said the wrong name when announcing the winner of Miss Universe's national costume on Sunday, but it turns out he was right.

The TV personality who has hosted the beauty pageant over the last five years announced Ganados as the winner, with a photo matching a flashed on screen. However, Miss Malaysia Shweta Sekhon asked him for the microphone and corrected him. "it's not Philippines," she said. "It's Malaysia."

"Well... let me explain something to you. I just read that in a teleprompter," he admitted. "You all quit doing this to me. I can read this. They are trying to fix it now. This is what they did to me back in 2015," Harvey said.


"This is Malaysia. I really love this National Costume of Malaysia. This is crazy," He added.

The incident gives fans a flashback to when he mistakenly announced the wrong winner during the Miss Universe competition in 2015.
