Tim Tebow to play for Philippines in upcoming World Baseball Classic Qualifiers

Tim Tebow is reportedly will be playing for the Philippines next month in the World Baseball Classic. Tebow was born in the Philippines in 1987 when his parents lived in the Philippines as missionaries.

His family moved to Florida when he was 3 years old.

“I’ve just got such a heart for the Philippines,” Tebow said Wednesday. “I’ve just really had a love for the people for a long time. To be able to represent them will be really cool -- really, really cool. You don’t get a lot of chances to represent people or places that mean something to you,” quoted in USA Today news.

The Philippine are one of four countries vying for a spot in the WBC which will play in a qualifying tournament March 20-25 in Tucson, Arizona, with teams from Panama, New Zealand, Great Britain, the Czech Republic and Spain.
