530 UST Hospital workers now in quarantine

Manila, Philippines - Around 530 personnel of the University of Santo Tomas Hospital (USTH) are now in quarantine following to the exposure to patients with suspected coronavirus disease.

The hospital staff includes consultants, fellows, residents, nurses, and aides, according to The Varsitarian report, the official student publication of the University.

“To address the issues brought about by the depleted workforce, we have consolidated several wards in the Private and Clinical Division, temporarily held elective admissions and had to temporarily stop elective procedures in selected units,” according to the UST Hospital's statement as quoted by the report.

According to the report, UST hospital will start regulating admission and postpone elective procedures in selected units due to the shortage of workforce, amid an increase in patient admissions.

The report also said that the hospital is facing depleted workforce and there were also shortage of personal protective equipment. 

As of this posting the Philippines has raised COVID-19 cases to 380.
