US singer Pink pledges $1M for relief efforts after tested positive for coronavirus

Singer Pink said she will be giving USD500,000 each to two emergency funds as she announced Friday, that she was tested positive for COVID-19.




In a her two separate tweets, she said, she and her three-year-old son were showing symptoms two weeks ago, and she was tested positive after accessing tests through a primary care physician.






“My family was already sheltering at home and we continued to do so for the last two weeks following the instruction of our doctor. Just a few days ago we were re-tested and are now thankfully negative,” Pink said in the post.

Pink also called for free testing for all.

“It is an absolute travesty and failure of our government to not make testing more widely accessible,” she wrote. “This illness is serious and real. People need to know that the illness affects the young and old, healthy and unhealthy, rich and poor, and we must make testing free and more widely accessible to protect our children, our families, our friends and our communities.”






The Grammy Award-winning artist who is known for pop songs like "What About Us,""Raise Your Glass," and "Just Give Me a Reason" announced she's donating $1 million, equally split to two coronavirus-related relief beneficiaries such as Temple University Hospital Fund in Philadelphia and the COVID-19 response fund run by the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles.
