Angkas proposes plastic partition to operate in new normal

While the government are easing coronavirus restrictions and the work resumes in the country, the challenge in the shortage of transportation especially in Metro Manila still exist. 



To address the problem of transportation, Angkas, a motorcycle taxi operating in the Metro is proposing a way to achieve social distancing requirement in new normal.


According to the proposed design, aside from the standard safety features to both driver and passenger like wearing of helmet and face mask - in addition the driver should be wearing a plastic partition mounted on the driver's safety vest to block the transfer of the virus.

Angkas chief George Royeca added, "we understand that we have a social distancing requirement and if you look at on the motorcycle, its clearly a violation between drivers and passengers. But we've seen that all over the world everyone is trying to provide solutions." 


Royeca added that the health and safety proposal have already submitted to the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for further studies to enhance the safety of the motorcycle taxi services.

Currently, motorcycle taxis are not allowed because it violates the physical distancing rule.
