Outrage sparked over the death of pregnant elephant after feeding her pineapple filled with explosives

The death of pregnant elephant in Kerala have caused outrage after it was posted on social media. The elephant was spotted standing still in the forest on May 27, according to Sky News.


However, it was unclear how the elephant acquired the pineapple with explosives or why.

Mohan Krishan, an officer from the Kerala Forest Department tried to rescue the elephant. He shared the incident on Facebook.

"She trusted everyone. When the pineapple she ate exploded, she must have been shocked not thinking about herself, but about the child she was going to give birth to in 18 to 20 months," Mr Krishnan said.


The elephant's tongue and mouth were badly injured and she was unable to eat due to her injuries.


Initial investigation said that the man who was arrested might be a poacher or a farmer who wanted to kill the elephant to prevent it from damaging crops.

The death have caused an outrage among animal rights, sending their message to social media platforms with different artworks condemning the incident.
