Cynthia Alcantara Barker, is a full-blood Filipino who hails from San Pablo City in Laguna has been making history once again after she was elected as mayor of Hertsmere in Hertfordshire, England.

She also become a town councilor in 2015 for Elstree, Borehamwood and Borough Potter’s Bar Furzefield under the Conservative Party.
She sworn to the post during a virtual meeting at the Hertsmere Borough Council on June 24, 2020, due to coronavirus restrictions.
This Pinay made everyone proud once more for her achievements, revealing her priority to raise fund for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and addressing the impact of COVID-19.
Cynthia, who grew up in San Pablo City, Laguna has completed her degree in Industrial Engineering at Adamson University before finding a job and migrating in the United Kingdom.
“Ang aking pagkakaupo bilang isang mayor dito sa UK ay katunayan na tinatanggap at kinikilala ang mga Pilipino sa bansang Inglatera,” the mayor said.
Barker has lived in Hetsmere for 29 years, who joined her family in mid '80s. Her mother was first to arrive in '70s as an OFW.
