BLACKPINK releases new music video for 'Lovesick Girls' after controversy

BLACKPINK deletes Jennie's controversial nurse scenes on their 'Lovesick Girls' music video following backlash from other netizens and Korean health groups for allegedly sexualizing nurses.

The move came after YG Entertainment decided to delete all scenes involving the nurse outfit and replaced the music video with the edited version.

“We would like to deeply apologize to nurses who felt discomfort from this issue. And once again, we deliver our sincerest feelings of respect toward all healthcare workers devoting themselves to the wellbeing of our nation,” YG Entertainment said in a statement.

Recently, Korean Health and Medical Worker's Union (KHMU) raised concerns over Blackpink member Jennie's nurse outfit from the music video. The union composed of medical professional, technical staff and more, claimed the scene has promoted "sexual objectification" and "sexualised" nurses.

"The cap, tight and short skirt, and high heels are completely different from an actual nurse uniform. The outfit and portrayal directly imitate the typical sexual stereotype and excuse it as a simple “costume," the statement read.

"Even though nurses are professional healthcare workers, for the sole reason that there are more women in the profession, they have been subject to sexual objectification and derogatory portrayals expressing doubts about their professionalism," it added.
