A million dollar meteorite crashes through man's house but feel cheated after he sold around $14,000 to buyer

Josua Hutagalung was supposed to be an overnight millionaire after a space rock crashed through his roof. The 33-year-old coffin maker from Sumatra, Indonesia was busy working outside his home when a loud bang from above hit the roof of his living room.

"The sound was so loud that parts of the house were shaking too. And after I searched, I saw that the tin roof of the house had broken," he told news outlet Kompas. "When I lifted it, the stone was still warm."

He shared the photos of the fallen rock on Facebook and has created social media interest. Days after many buyers for the rock tried to convince him and lucky specialist collector Jared Collins from USA took the rock at $14,000 (approx. PHP675,000) for 1.8kg.

According to the Sun, the meteorite has been put up for sale on eBay for 757 pounds per gram, with a total value of $1.85 million.

Mr. Collins has reportedly re-sold the precious rock to fellow collector Jay Piatek, who was a doctor and meteorite collector in the US.

The meteorite is estimated to be 4.5 billion years old and extremely rare minerals, classified as CM1/2 Carbonaceous Chondrite.
