President Duterte on Monday, December 21, 2020 denounced what he called "brutal" killing of the unarmed mother and son in Paniqui, Tarlac by a police officer in broad daylight. During his meeting with several Cabinet members in Davao City, the president expressed his annoyance on a now viral video.

"Uunahin ko yong pulis, nakita ko yong TV. Baka hindi niyo talaga nakuha ha, pero, I don't think, isa lang talaga ang pulis na to. May sakit ito sa utak! Pero I was wondering why he was able to, nakalusot sa neuro. Tarantado ang G*go na yun. Diba sinabi ko,

"If you do it right, I'm with you, you do it wrong, and there will be a hell to pay," the president said.

He clearly said that the administration does not condone such acts of senseless killings by uniformed personnel and promise that justice shall be served to the family of the victims.

The video that surfaced online showed Sonya Gregorio, 52, hugging her 25-year-old son Frank Anthony as police Senior Master Sgt. Jonel Nuezca, 46, confronted them allegedly over the alleged homemade cannon. The police then shot the victims in front of his young daughter.
