After receiving first COVID-19 vaccine shipment from China, the Philippines have launched vaccinations on Monday, March 1. Philippines General Hospital Director Dr. Gerardo Legaspi was the first person who took the first shot from Sinovac vaccine.
The government has started distribution of Sinovac vaccine to Metro Manila hospitals on Monday to pave the way for the start of nationwide vaccination plan that will prioritize frontline workers.
Other government officials who was given the Sinovac vaccine are Food and Drug Administration Director General Eric Domingo, vaccine czar Carlito GalvezJr, Health Secretary Francisco T. Duque III, DND Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Lieutenant Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, and Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, among others. Health workers and those men in uniforms also got vaccinated Monday morning in a separate ceremony.
