Caloocan resort orders closure for defying health protocols at weekend Mother's Day gatherings

A super spreader Mother's Day event in Caloocan resort of Sunday has took social media attention after a large number of people gathered despite the pandemic. City local government ordered the closure of a resort that was found operating despite the city was placed under the community quarantine.

Before the authorities have arrived in the area, revellers, many reportedly unmasked, became unruly after several others tried to escape.

Mayor Oscar Malapitan on his statement on Facebook said, the local government will file charges against the Gubat sa Ciudad resort, which photos and videos went viral online. In a video footage captured, several individuals including children who are not allowed outside under the current community quarantine were seen swimming in the pools of the resort.

The mayor also ordered the immediate cancellation of the resort's business permit.

"Buong pwersa ng batas ang ipapataw sa mga may-ari at operator ng resort kasama na ang mga nag-swimming at ang mga pinuno ng barangay na tila nagpabaya sa kanilang tungkulin," he said in the statement.

NCR Plus remains in Modified ECQ until May 14, and as per guidelines by the coronavirus task force, the said establishment are only allowed to resume work in areas under general community quarantine and Modified GCQ.
