PGH nurse share incredible untold story after they were able to save 35 babies as fire hits part of hospital

Nurses and staff in the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) was hailed a heroes after they were able to saved all 35 newborn babies at the hospital's neonnatal intensive care unit (NICU) when the fire broke out on early Sunday morning at 12:58 a.m.

No casualty or injury was reported, but the story of heroism has took social media attention when a hospital nurse identified as Kathrina Bianca Macababbad shared her untold story.

According to Macababbad, it was a 'longest night shift duty' when a fire broke out at the third floor of the hospital that prompted them to evacuate the 35 newborns. She said that they rescued all including critical and intubated babies from the fourth floor to the safe area.

Nag ambu bag while carrying the baby ang scenario.

Macababbad thanked God together with her colleagues the strength and courage to save the babies. She also lauded the staff of the hospital.

Thank you Lord for the unwavering strength and courage!!! Di ko alam kung saan nanggaling iyon pero wala akong naramdamang takot sa dibdib ko. 35/35 NICU babies including critical and intubated were saved! Thank you Lord! Thank you sa lahat ng doctors, nurses, NAs, UW, security guard, RTs and firemen!,” she wrote.

The fire was put under control at 2:46 a.m. and was declared fire out at around 5:41 in the morning. The PGH is the country's biggest COVID-19 referral hospital, with several patients were evacuated and transferred to nearby district hospitals in Manila.
