The project for advance batteries will begin under the supervision of the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) and in collaboration with the University of the Philippines-Diliman (UPD).

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) announced last May 28 the establishment of seven centers all over the country to promote research and innovation to increase industrial competitiveness under the Science for Change Program (S4CP) with a budget of over 540-million pesos.

The seven schools which will receive a chunk of funding are the De La Salle University-Laguna with over (P26-million) to set up a Center for Vector of Disease; Isabela State University in collaboration with Cagayan State University and Quirino State University  has over P77-million for the Smart Water Infrastructure and management R&D Center for disaster risk reduction and climate change; Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology with over P107-million for the establishment of Center for Sustainability Polymers; Don Mariano Marcos State University with almost P80-million for the Coastal Engineering R&D Center; Laguna State Polytechnic University in collaboration with Up-Diliman with over P53-million for Center for Lakes Sustainability Development, and; Polytechnic university of the Philippines in collaboration with UP-Diliman and Adamson University with over P53-million for its Center for Environmental Technologies and Compliance.
